Root & Rise grew from a shared belief that women deserve better access to the knowledge, support, and specialized care that can make such a difference in their lives.

Through our own experiences with pelvic health, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, feeding challenges, and the long search for answers, we both found ourselves wishing women knew more about their bodies and had somewhere closer to home to turn when they needed support.

For women living in the smaller communities surrounding the Quad Cities, specialized care often means traveling into the metro, or simply going without the support they need. We created Root & Rise in DeWitt to bring that care closer.

A place where women can find answers within their greater community. Where conversations about pelvic health and women’s wellness feel normal, not uncomfortable. And where women at every stage of life can feel heard, supported, and empowered to understand and care for their bodies.

Rooted in the communities we serve, we’re here to help women rise.

Our Story

For Rachel, women’s health isn’t just a profession, it’s deeply personal.

As a board-certified Occupational Therapist with nearly a decade of experience, Rachel has cared for individuals across a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and medical needs. Throughout her career, she’s served in both clinical and leadership roles, but what has remained constant is her passion for helping people feel seen, supported, and empowered in their healing.

That passion became even more meaningful through her own journey into motherhood.

After experiencing two C-sections, navigating pelvic floor challenges, breastfeeding difficulties, and welcoming a 34-week preemie, Rachel found herself asking the questions so many women quietly carry:

Why didn’t I know this?
Where is the support for women like me?

She realized that too many women were expected to navigate pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and pelvic health concerns without the knowledge, resources, or compassionate care they deserved.

That realization became the foundation for Root & Rise.

Today, Rachel combines her clinical expertise with lived experience to provide care that is evidence-based, deeply compassionate, and centered around helping women understand their bodies, not simply manage their symptoms. She believes every woman deserves to feel informed, confident, and supported through every season of life.

When she’s not in the studio, you’ll likely find Rachel spending time with her family. She’s a proud bonus mom to two incredible boys and mama to two little ones of her own. She loves tackling home projects alongside her husband, tending to her flowers, getting lost in a great book, traveling whenever possible, enjoying a sweet treat, and—like many of us—taking just a little longer than planned wandering the aisles at Target.

As a full-time working mom, Rachel understands how easy it is to put yourself last while caring for everyone else. That’s why she strives to create a space where women can slow down, feel heard, and receive the support they need to move forward with confidence.

Whether you’re preparing for birth, healing postpartum, navigating pelvic health concerns, or simply wanting to feel stronger and more connected to your body, Rachel is honored to walk alongside you every step of the way.

For Laiken, the passion for women’s health began with her own experience.

As a teenager playing sports, Laiken experienced pelvic floor dysfunction, but finding answers and effective support wasn’t easy. It took years to understand what was happening in her body and find the care that helped.
That experience stayed with her.

She knew other women shouldn’t have to spend years searching for answers, too.
Her lifelong passion for health, wellness, and movement led her to earn her undergraduate degree in Human Performance and Fitness before completing her Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. Today, Laiken has more than two years of experience in pelvic health, with a special focus on pregnancy, postpartum care, and athletes.
She loves helping women understand how their bodies work and supporting them in staying active through pregnancy, rebuilding strength postpartum, returning to the activities they love, and navigating the many changes that can happen from puberty through menopause.

At the heart of Laiken’s approach is a desire to create the kind of care she wishes every woman could experience: positive, safe, calming, and free from judgment. A space where you can ask questions, talk openly about what you’re experiencing, and know someone is genuinely listening.

Because you shouldn’t have to spend years wondering what’s happening in your own body.
Outside of the studio, Laiken loves traveling both nationally and internationally, reading, taking walks with her dogs, and heading to country concerts, she’s been to nearly 100 of them!
Whether you’re an athlete navigating pelvic health concerns, preparing for or recovering from pregnancy, or simply wanting to feel stronger and more confident in your body, Laiken is passionate about helping you find answers and feel supported along the way.
